Corn Capital Days
The last weekend in July we celebrate our agricultural heritage during our annual Corn Capital Days. There is a free sweet corn feed and activities that appeal to the whole family.
There are seven beautiful parks, many with shelters and restroom facilities that are open until 10:00 p.m. during the summer months. Camping is available at Memorial Park which is located next to the celebrated Worlds Largest Ear of Corn Monument. Although there is no camping fee, there is a 3 day camping limit. Memorial Park does have a dump station and restrooms. However, there are no electric hookups.
Our parks boast a variety of activities for visitors. There are horseshoe pits, tennis court, softball fields and playground equipment.
If you have your “sticks” along, don’t miss playing a round of golf at the Olivia Golf Club. A nine hole course that is extremely well maintained and challenging. Narrow fairways are lined with old trees that penalize errant shots. There is water on two holes including the signature par 3 fifth hole. And, yes, there are sand bunkers, so have your sand wedge available.
